5 Best Singing Lessons in Calgary That Local Singers Can’t Stop Recommending
My niece wants to be on Broadway someday, so she started going to one of the best dancing lessons in Calgary last year. Now, she wants to develop her singing skills.
She’s always had a nice, sweet voice, but it lacked power. So, she started looking for an experienced and supportive vocal coach who could boost her lung capacity, as well as increase her stage confidence.
Of course, she asked her favorite uncle (me!) for help in narrowing down the choices. Together, we pored over reviews, packages, locations, and even exchanged messages with previous vocal students.
A couple of months after settling on a coach, she can now belt out a power ballad nicely, with total control.

Imagine Music Lessons is owned by Jennifer Aumentado, who started teaching music when she was only 16 years old! Her lifelong dedication even earned her a nomination for the 30th RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneurs Awards.
Her expertise really shines when providing singing lessons. She focuses on tapping into your full potential via proper vocal techniques (breathing, warm-ups, the works).
As for scheduling, we like the flexibility of their Regular Lessons—you can choose between weekly or bi-weekly sessions from September through June.
You even get to showcase your newfound vocal skills at their annual recital, which is pretty cool.
If you like their overall vibe, you should book a slot right away. We heard their music classes fill up really fast.

You don’t need to be a pro singer to be her student. She offers Beginner Singer lessons, where she teaches vocal exercises and proper mic techniques to hit those high notes.

Since 2002, Chinook School of Music has been helping students of all ages develop their musical skills.
What’s unique about them is that, unlike other studios, they offer in-home lessons. Instead of fighting traffic, you can have one of their vocal coaches come to your house to provide one-on-one instruction.
If you prefer online singing lessons, they’ve got your back there, too. Their virtual sessions are designed to teach modern vocal strategies in a fun way.
You can even join their annual Chinook Celebration Festival, if you feel prepared and confident to showcase what you’ve learned. This is a non-competitive event where each singer will receive both written and verbal feedback.
The only downside we heard about is that some teachers were rude to students.
