Marshall Fabrics is a fully Canadian-owned shop with over a thousand fabrics and sewing notions in stock. This ensures creators of any skill level can get everything they need in one trip.
I swung by last month for some broadcloth, and I really appreciated how organized their aisles were.
Their curbside pickup was also fast, according to my friend who frequently uses it. You just need to email your order ahead of time and grab it outside.
Students and teachers even get a 10% discount with a valid ID.
However, you should plan around their statutory holiday closures, since those can interrupt a long weekend sewing marathon.
Also, keep in mind their shorter Sunday hours, as they close earlier than most weekend shoppers might expect.
Their extended weekday evening hours make up for it, though, making it easy to shop after work.
Great Selection with Helpful Staff
Lovely collections of fabrics, Super organized shop, helpful staff, not bad prices, but confusing receipts details, items are coded other than named. Also, items are closely enlisted on receipts that makes it difficult to understand. Otherwise, a great place for fabric users!

Best place for variety in fabrics with such amazing staff who are more than happy to help. Shout out to Aman and Chelsea who are wonderful helpers from writing up how to do a ruffled pillow including handwritten diagrams (Aman) to deciding how much fabric and what color (Chelsea).

RICK RACK Textiles is a garment-focused shop right in the center of the city. They carry apparel-specific materials, indie patterns, and specialized notions built primarily for clothing makers.
If you live locally, their complimentary delivery on orders over $120 is incredibly convenient.
They also handle wide-format printing for digital pattern files, so you can skip taping letter pages together at home.
I haven’t taken their sewing classes yet, but a close friend absolutely loved her recent zipper installation session.
The natural light in the store also makes it so much easier to color-match threads accurately.
Just know they enforce a strict one-month pickup window for in-store orders. They also charge a hefty 25% restocking fee if you abandon your purchase, so plan accordingly.

Favorite Fabric Store with Fun Classes
This is one of my favorite fabric stores ever! I sew clothes and its so nice to have an option for premium garment fabrics! Their pattern printing is also economical and a great service. The staff are very helpful and have often offered advice when I have a problem or am curious about something. I tried one of the classes recently to learn how to make a quilt block and it was so much FUN! The only downside is that it is pretty far away from where I live so I don’t get to go in often

The team has over two decades of quilting experience, meaning the project guidance you receive here is incredibly solid. They even keep a database to match acrylic inserts to almost any sewing machine on the market.
The early closing time is the main downside, though. They shut their doors by 5:00 PM on weekdays and 4:00 PM on weekends.
This tight schedule makes it quite a squeeze if you are trying to visit right after finishing a long day at work.

Favorite Shop with Fast Shipping
This is my favourite fabric store. The staff is excellent and sooooo helpful. And when looking for something not in stock, they were willing to order it in for me. Plus, when I need something shipped, it is super fast!! And, during COVID I appreciated the extra precautions taken to keep us all safe.
