These 6 Spas in Downtown Calgary Had Me Melting Like Jello
When was your last massage? Until last year, I couldn’t remember mine. Living alone as an adult, it’s easy to neglect self-care and live like a madman. I didn’t realize how bad it was until a kid said I looked like the “before” picture in a shampoo commercial!
But after experiencing the worst burnout ever, I decided to make a change. I started scheduling wellness days on my calendar so I wouldn’t forget. Whether it’s massage therapy, sauna session, mani-pedi, or just a haircut, things like these matter.
I understand it takes time to know what works, especially for those who aren’t used to pampering themselves. So to give you a headstart, here are the best spas in Downtown Calgary that I think are worth taking some time off for.
Where can I get a massage in Downtown Calgary?
There are a bunch of spa centres where you can get a massage in Calgary! Notable ones are Oasis Wellness Centre & Spa, Stillwater Spa, and RnR Wellness Spa for a soothing experience.

Oasis Wellness Centre & Spa is an Egyptian-themed luxury spa with multiple lounges. Plus, it’s amazing for me that the locker rooms have a steam room and dry sauna, digital lockers, showers, and complimentary stuff for guests.
I recommend getting a therapeutic massage for a soothing start. This can be a relaxation massage, deep tissue therapy, or my pick—a bit of both! The couples massage also looks ideal for relaxing with your partner. I say make that 90 minutes!
And if you have the time, why not explore the ultimate facial and gentlemen’s facial treatments for a skincare boost? While you decide, I recommend sitting at the lounging areas sipping free tea—the spa has a decent flavour selection too!
Pro tip: Check out Oasis Wellness Centre & Spa’s website before booking online—you might find a promo code that can save you up to CAD 20 on weekdays! Be sure to read the terms, though. I suggest contacting the spa beforehand to confirm if the discount applies to your chosen treatments. |

Want to make your retreat more indulgent? Located in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Calgary, Stillwater Spa is a posh wellness spa away from the chaotic city life.
The highlights for me are the moisture-drench body treatment if your skin feels dry, and the lemongrass mimosa body scrub if you want extra clean, fresh-smelling skin! Otherwise, you can always go for a regular massage with a soothing scalp treatment.
You may also try the packages with the mani-pedi or the Glow facial treatment. Many of these also come with an entrée prepared by Hyatt chefs! After that, you can explore the whirlpool and steam room for an extra layer of relaxation.
Handy hacks: I recommend visiting Stillwater Spa 30 to 60 minutes before your therapies so you can enjoy other amenities too, like the hot tub, steam room, and lounge. There’s also free underground parking in the Hyatt Hotel! Just remember to have your stub validated upon finishing your treatments. |

RnR Wellness Spa is a charming boutique spa that features a good range of body wraps, massages, and wellness services for full-body relaxation.
Some of my favourites are the Japanese reiki and warm stone massage. You may also dip at the pool soak in the hot tub, or rejuvenate in the steam beforehand. But if you’re the active type, you can sneak in an endorphin-inducing workout instead!
I also appreciate the spa’s use of Canadian-inspired scents like pure lavender (from British Columbia) or apricot (from British Columbia and Ontario) that reflect local culture. In my opinion, this is ideal for travellers wanting to embrace the city vibe!
Tasty tip: Want a sophisticated treat at RnR Wellness Spa? Consider booking afternoon tea with your spa service! This includes vanilla scones, herb-roasted chicken sandwiches, macarons, and more. Note that you can only book on weekends via the spa reception. |

Fees:
- Massages start at CAD 70 for 30 minutes
Love all things natural? Leela Eco Spa is an eco-friendly spa in Calgary known for using organic and sustainably sourced products for body scrubs, facials, and massages.
There are many options, like hot stone, reflexology, and couples massage. But if you’re unsure, I recommend the customized massage, which can last 30 to 120 minutes. Just be sure to communicate how you like your massage, though!
I say consider osteopathy (whole body care), acupuncture (needle therapy), and chiropractic (back adjustment) treatments too! These are more advanced therapies if you have a specific condition requiring targeted treatment.
Quiet mode: Not in a chatty mood? Take advantage of Leela Eco Spa’s silent massage—it’s literally you and the therapist keeping quiet all the way! You’ll likely be more attuned to the physical sensations and peacefully drift into your dreamland. |

Riverside Spa is a relaxation spa in downtown Calgary that offers a serene environment with river views, steam rooms, rain showers, and body and beauty treatments—ideal for a full day of pampering!
My top massage picks are raindrop therapy and hot stone. But if there’s a lot of stiffness on your shoulders, I say go for the Swedish for some solid relief.
You’ll also get tea or flavoured water, chocolates and other snacks, as well as warm neck pillows and blankets. Other than that, I appreciate the fireplace here, keeping everyone super cozy.
Me-time ideas: Is sole meditation not your cup of tea at the lounge? Make the most of the free Wi-Fi at Riverside Spa’s lounge to catch up on your favourite show! You may also bring your comfort mystery book or write in your journal! When it comes to relaxing, you do you. |
Breathe Massage Therapy & Total Body Health
– Media credit: breathetherapy
Website: https://www.breathespa.ca/
Address: 717 7 Ave SW #120, Floor 1, Elveden Centre
Contact Details: +1 403 457 3060, [email protected]
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 8 PM
Fees:
- Massages start at CAD 80 for 30 minutes
Breathe Massage Therapy & Total Body Health offers classic massage therapy, pre- and post-natal, hot stone, and couples massages.
But what I like the most here is its amazing cupping therapy! It’s basically an old form of alternative medicine where a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.
I believe the cupping treatment is perfect for reducing pain and inflammation in the muscles, especially for athletes (like swimmer Michael Phelps with the circular red marks on his back) or regular sporty peeps who want a quicker recovery.
Savvy trick: If you’re busy during the week, you can still get a massage at this spa after hours. Just remember to make an appointment or reach out to the staff first! |
