Best Time to Go
The best time to visit the Calgary Public Library is on weekdays, preferably when it opens as there’s less crowd. However, this depends on what you want to do.
If you prefer a quieter atmosphere for studying or researching, mornings are the best time to visit. If you’re looking to attend events or workshops, evenings and weekends may be more suitable as there is often a busier schedule during those times.

Admission
Admission to the Calgary Public Library is free by signing up for a free library card online from the comfort of your couch or pop into any of their 18 branches to sign up in person.
Library Cards
A Calgary Public Library card opens the door to a wide range of services, including borrowing books, movies, and music, accessing public computers and free Wi-Fi, printing, attending workshops and events, reserving items, and even booking meeting spaces.
Library cards remain active for three years, but if you haven’t used yours in that time, reactivating is simple. Just visit your nearest library branch or update your account online.
For those who live outside Calgary, the library offers a non-resident membership for $112 annually. This fee covers everyone in the household, allowing all family members to enjoy the library’s resources with their own cards.
Parking
There are multiple parking options around the Calgary Public Library. There’s the City Hall parkade, which is located on the east side of the library. You may also opt for paid street parking in the East Village.

By car: head to 3 Street SW S/Barclay Street SW S. Then, turn left onto 4 Street SE and take another left. Next, turn right, and turn left to get to the library.
By public transportation: board the 302 bus at EB 9 Avenue SW at 2 Street SW. Then, get off at Macleod TR SE. From there, the library is a 6-minute walk.

Famous for their bellinis, Milestones is just a 3-minute hop from the Calgary Public Library. Situated on a bustling pedestrian street, it’s incredibly easy to spot—and even easier to love, thanks to its stylish wood accents and greenery-filled vibe.
The steak and fries hit just the right balance, the pasta and sauce were a match made in heaven, the seafood pasta was wonderfully fresh, and the burrata cheese appetizer was simply unforgettable.

Tucked inside the Calgary Marriott Hotel, ONE18 EMPIRE is a whiskey-inspired gem that might just surprise you. It’s not the biggest spot, and being hotel-adjacent might lower your expectations—but trust us, they deliver on every front.
Their brunch game is strong, especially the poached eggs perched on a bed of crispy potatoes, smothered in velvety hollandaise, and finished with fresh scallions and sesame seeds. It’s a total knockout.
