These 2 go karting tracks in Calgary had us zooming with joy!
My brother and I used to fight a lot as kids. And I mean, a LOT. Whenever our parents weren’t around, we’d throw in a punch, kick, or even a bite! We’d get pissed over the pettiest things, and everyone else had to step in before it turned into an all-out war.
As we got older, we didn’t really hit each other anymore, but the bickering never stopped. It would start with quiet jabs, but it always got louder until we ended up wrestling anyway. I’m not sure why, either. I think it’s just how we “bond” as bros.
Eventually, our parents had enough of it. They told us to channel all that energy into something else, like trying go-karting tracks in Calgary. In the end, we ended up loving racing so much that we kept going back, even as adults! Check out these spots below.

SPEEDERS is a go karting track in Calgary where you can experience the thrill of driving high-speed vehicles indoors. We love that racers will be safe from the heat, rain, and cold and just focus on the laps and finish line!
The adults can get 8 to 10 minutes of adrenaline-pumping fun per race. This includes going around up to 14 laps around the track. And if you can’t get enough of just one, we recommend looking into the 2 and 3-race packages to save more in the long run.
We also appreciate that this venue offers junior karting for the kids! The kiddos get 7 minutes of fun in the fast junior karts. But these karts are designed especially for smaller builds (or those around 4 feet tall and over), so note that parents can’t ride here too.
Pro tips: It’s best to book your SPEEDERS’s tickets online well in advance. While walk-ins are welcome, there are days when all the slots already get booked up! We suggest familiarizing yourself with the track ahead of time as well! For us, learning the tight corners can help you plan your best (and safest) moves. |

If you’re chill going with the flow, we reckon you’ll love Downhill Karting for its gravity-fuelled fun! It’s where go karting enthusiasts speed down a winding hillside track in self-steered karts during summer.
Just hop in the driver’s seat and embrace the motion for 20 to 30 minutes! We love that racers are in full control of their speed as they ride down a 1,800-metre track. On top of that, it’s got over 50 twists and turns along the way—such an epic thrill, in our opinion.
You can also choose from 3 packages, depending on how many rides and digital photos you want. The most basic option includes a chairlift experience with 4 rides and 1 digital photo. Otherwise, there are handy family packages too!
Handy hacks: Besides the actual go karting activity, a challenge you might face at Downhill Karting is lining up to view on-track photos, so brace yourself for the wait! We suggest entertaining yourself in the meantime—you can befriend fellow racers, listen to a funny podcast, or eat a snack (or two) while waiting in the queue. Keep in mind that there isn’t food offered on-site. When you get peckish, we suggest exploring food and drink options at WinSport nearby. |
