The 5 Best Dog Walkers in Calgary for Paws That Refuse to Sit Still

  • Safety Credentials: We checked if each business holds active insurance and bonding to protect your pet. We also looked for specialised certifications like pet first aid.

  • Group Size and Dynamics: We evaluated how companies manage their pack sizes to ensure safe socialisation. Smaller groups help prevent overstimulation and keep play positive.

  • Handling Experience: We prioritised walkers with extensive hands-on experience with diverse temperaments. Knowing how to read canine body language is crucial for outdoor safety.

  • Client Transparency: We looked for services offering clear updates through GPS tracking and daily reports. This gives you peace of mind while you are stuck at work.

  • Service Flexibility: We reviewed the variety of walking durations and training add-ons available. Different options make it easier to match your dog's exact energy level.

Finding the best dog walker in Calgary can take a huge weight off your shoulders. We all love our furry friends, but balancing work shifts and daily walks gets tough.

You might be a hybrid professional rushing back to the office, or a high-energy dog owner looking for river valley adventures. Luckily, our city has some fantastic options to keep your pup happy and healthy.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Paws On A Journey stands out by capping their off-leash adventure packs at just four to eight dogs. They offer a unique walk-and-train service that blends physical exercise with practical obedience coaching right in the real world.

We bumped into one of their trainers at a local park and were genuinely impressed by how calmly they managed a high-energy group.

Every neighbourhood walk comes with live Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking and a detailed digital report card. This means you always know exactly where your pup is exploring.

However, they do charge an extra $15 fee for solo walks on weekends. This surcharge can definitely add up fast if you work irregular shifts.

Still, their small-group focus keeps outings safe and manageable.

Pros

  • Small pack limit of 4 to 8 dogs
  • Active hands-on pack engagement
  • Built-in loose leash training
  • Walks come with GPS tracking

Cons

  • Extra $15 for weekend solo walks

I couldn’t be happier with the experience

I used a pet sitting service for my senior pug, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Caring for an older dog comes with its own set of challenges, and it was clear from the start that the sitter understood the extra patience, attention, and gentleness required.

Vanessi took the time to learn my pug’s routine, including feeding schedule, medication needs, and preferred walking pace. I especially appreciated the regular updates—photos and short messages that reassured me my dog was comfortable and well cared for.

Communication is always prompt, friendly, and professional

This dog walking service is truly exceptional!  From the very first interaction, it was clear that there is a genuine passion and deep understanding of dogs. Communication is always prompt, friendly, and professional, which gives me complete peace of mind.

What truly stands out is the level of care and attention each dog receives. Walks are not rushed they are structured, engaging, and tailored to the dog’s individual needs, energy level, and personality. Whether it’s a high-energy pup that needs a long, stimulating walk or a more relaxed dog that prefers a slower pace, everything is handled with care

They send a live GPS map tracking the exact route and distance covered after every single neighbourhood walk. This level of transparency offers huge peace of mind for nervous pet parents.

Plus, the team travels directly to your house as a mobile pet care service, which removes the stress of early-morning drop-offs. If your dog prefers their own space, you can even book one-on-one enrichment sessions in a private playroom.

Just keep in mind that quick drop-in relief visits have a strict cap of two dogs per household. Families with larger packs will need to find another budget-friendly option for potty breaks.

  • Live GPS route tracking provided
  • Walks stay in familiar neighbourhoods
  • Mobile in-home care convenience
  • Hold an official Fear Free certification

Cons

  • Strict two-dog limit for quick potty visits

They are rescue dog friendly and will work with quirky pups!

The best place to take your pup too whether it’s walking or dog sitting and the only place I will take my pup! Whoa Doggie took the time to get to know Duke, walking him, and working with him where he is at. We have now used the dog sitting service. We are able to go on vacation without worrying about him being distressed or leaving him with family. We were gone a week, received daily updates, photos and came home to a happy/ healthy pup. They are rescue dog friendly and will work with quirky pups!

Can’t say enough good things about Whoa Doggie!

Simply the absolute best dog walking/pet sitting service in Calgary.  Chester and Sherman are better for having Chantelle and her crew as part of their days!  Can’t say enough good things about Whoa Doggie!

Customer Reviews

They excel in their communication

From the first point of contact with Emma, I have been incredibly impressed with the level of service she and her team have provided. They excel in their communication with an added touch of sending the family daily photos of the dogs having – what looks like – the time of their lives. It is obvious that Emma and her entire team simply love dogs which is such a great level of comfort for anyone who entrusts their furry family members with anyone else.

I have no doubt that my pup is in great hands with all staff

I highly recommend Digby and Company for your dog walking needs! Extremely professional, flexible, reliable, and great communication/updates with every walk. It’s so easy to schedule and message via the app. I have no doubt that my pup is in great hands with all staff. My dog has learned many valuable skills from the group pack walks. Thanks for the great service!!

4. World For Paws

world-for-paws

Website: worldforpawsyyc.pet
Address: 79 Sun Harbour Close SE
Contact: (587) 572-8425 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

World For Paws skips chaotic public parks by exercising dogs on their own fully fenced, private acreage. Handlers with over 20 years of canine experience and official pet first aid certifications oversee all outings.

They also carefully match playgroups based on temperament and size instead of putting every dog together.

We spoke with a client who previously used a similar private field service for their reactive rescue dog, and they said having a quiet, controlled space was a total lifesaver for their stress levels.

Plus, World For Paws offers dedicated pet transport directly to its facility.

However, they don’t offer standard neighbourhood street walks. So, if your older dog only needs a quick stroll around the block, this service won’t be the right fit.

Pros

  • Secure private off-leash acreage
  • Curated dog playgroups
  • Convenient facility transportation
  • Handlers with two decades of experience

Cons

  • No neighbourhood street walks offered

Customer Reviews

The dogs were so happy and relaxed

This was my first time using a dog walker, as well as a professional in home boarding service and I’ve just been so impressed by and thankful to have found Curtis from World of Paws. My dog (previously dogs plural until very recently) gets so excited when Curtis comes to the door – I swear he shows more excitement now for him than me! And when we did in home boarding, the dogs were so happy and relaxed when we came home and the house was in better shape than when we left it.

He is very kind, patient and knowledgeable about dogs

Curtis is great with dogs and would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a dog walker / dog sitting services. He is very kind, patient and knowledgeable about dogs. We have a dog who can be quite timid of strangers, but Curtis made sure to take things slow and build a bond with him. Now Mylo looks forward to their daily walks together.

Customer Reviews

Taylor and her team are friendly, professional and true dog lovers

Taylor has been walking our pups Louie and Henry since March 2020 and we could not be happier with how she interacts with our dogs. We have had dog walkers historically but most do not compare with the quality we get with Taylor. Taylor and her team are friendly, professional and true dog lovers. Our dogs can be a handful but they step up to the challenge each time. We could not have more confidence in someone who has access to our home and our pups. We are really happy that we switched to them.

I would highly recommend Taylor, Kristina and the rest of the Ramble On team!

Ramble On is incredible! We have been using Ramble On Dog Walking for almost 6 years for our dog Bodhi. Taylor and her team have always been excellent, professional, caring and reliable. The weekly pack walks have been so good for our dog-both for the exercise and the socialization. Bodhi loves heading out with his walker and we love seeing the photos posted of all of Bodhi’s friends he was with on his walk and the GPS map of where they all went for the day. I would highly recommend Taylor, Kristina and the rest of the Ramble On team!
